For those of you who have joined us at the Canberra Latin Dance Festival (CLDF) in past years, you know that it’s one heck of a party! It is a jam-packed weekend filled with world-class workshops, spectacular performances, high-energy dancers, spicy routines and the hottest in Latin music.
Take a look at this year’s promo filled with last year’s highlights.
This year is going to be as spectacular and it’s gone uptown at an exclusive new venue. The festival directors have hired out a five-star hotel, the Canberra Rex, and if you’ve been there recently you’ll know that it’s been stunningly renovated.
“This year we are so excited to bring a New York aspect to the CLDF by moving it to the Rex hotel,” said the festival directors, Andrea and Raquel.
“The New York festival is held in a hotel and it creates a really unique, intimate, and high-class atmosphere that we’ve always wanted to bring to Australia.”
“We’ve found the perfect hotel to do it, the Rex Hotel, and we’ve hired it out completely for you.”
No more having to walk to taxis or to a hotel with sore feet after dancing the night away. You can stay right where the festival is and simply catch an elevator to your room; easy for a quick refresh if you’ve been dancing all day. You can order breakfast in or join the other dancers at breakfast to mingle and form closer friendships.
What moving it to a hotel also means is that tickets are limited and they are going to sell out fast, so if you haven’t gotten yours yet, you’ll want to get yours now.
“We can only fit a certain amount of dancers and spectators in the room, so if you want a guaranteed ticket to get in we’d recommend you buy it earlier rather than later,” Andrea and Raquel said. “This also applies to our performers!”
Andrea has also been asked if you have to be an experienced dancer to attend the festival and her answer is, “NOT at all! This event is for EVERYONE! You can choose to attend the whole weekend of workshops and parties, or just come and watch the spectacular shows for one night.”
As to the dance line-up, there are some more world champions gracing us this year. We have Omar Munoz and his dance partner Greysa Baez from the USA, pictured above.
We also have Dahlia Elkateb from Brazilian Fantasy from the UK. Here she is in all her finery. She’ll be joined by Sashya Jay of Rhythm Brazil to lead the annual Samba Parade Finale on Sunday night.
Bachatero, Carlos Redondo originally from Spain and now living in Brisbane, will also be joining us! He and his partner Chloe Loh will be wowing us with their hot and sensual moves. Take a look below!
Amazing, right? You’ll get to see them perform, learn from them in their workshops, and even have an opportunity to dance with them at the dance parties afterwards.
